Hello! I’m Andrea and I’m an Authorised Marriage Celebrant and if you are here, you must be planning your wedding and looking for that ‘just right Celebrant’, one that you and your partner feel comfortable and confident with.

Let me tell you a little about me, to see if I’m your Celebrant.

I chose this fabulous job to celebrate life and all of the joyful and significant moments in it. I truly love what I do, I get to be creative, meet and get to know amazing people, and be a part of your wedding day. How special is that?

I have a working background in the hospitality, corporate and public sectors and I have experience in planning and hosting events and public speaking. Basically, I’m organised, efficient and professional but with a warm, relaxed and friendly style.

If you’re looking for a stand-up comedian, I’m probably not the Celebrant for you, though I do love to make a connection with your guests and a little giggle or two makes us all relax and smile and enjoy the ceremony.

I believe a Celebrant should shine the light on both of you and focus on the very important job of getting you married. I also want to ensure your guests are feeling the ceremony with their hearts (cue laughter and emotional and happy tears) and realise that they are witnessing a significant and special moment in your lives. Most importantly, I want you and your partner to be comfortable, relaxed, and enjoy yourselves.

Let me help you plan your ceremony with calm, professional efficiency so that it reflects you and your wishes and gives you one less thing to worry about on the day.

Some kind words from a few of my happy couples.........

*F A Q's*

Q1. When should I book you as my Celebrant?

Your Celebrant is one of your, if not the, most important suppliers, so you should lock one in as soon as you have settled on a date and a venue. My role as your Celebrant, is to ensure you leave the ceremony legally married in accordance with the Marriage Act, 1961. It is also my role to ensure your legal documents are accurately completed and lodged within the required timeframe.

Q2. What are the legal requirements to be married in Australia?

- You must not be married to someone else

- Both parties to the marriage must be at least 18 years old (unless a court has approved a marriage where one party is aged between 16 and 18 years old but under no circumstances can 2 persons under 18 years old marry each other)

- You must not be closely related to each other (Not be a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild or sibling)

- You must understand what marriage means and freely consent to marrying

- Specific words must be used during the ceremony in accordance with the Marriage Act, 1961

- You must give written notice of your intention to marry (the ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’) to the Celebrant within the required time frame, which is no less than one month before the wedding and no more than 18 months before.

Q3. What personal identification do we need to provide?

You must each produce evidence of your name and date and place of birth and prove your identity. All documents must be originals; if you have misplaced any of your documents, you should contact Birth, Deaths & Marriages for replacements.

Acceptable documents include:

- Birth Certificate; and

- Photo identification, either a passport (if expired, the photo must strongly resemble the party) or a current Driver’s Licence or other official photo I.D.

- If a party has been married before and they are divorced or their former spouse has died, then evidence of divorce or death must be provided.

Q4. Do we need a rehearsal?

The purpose of the rehearsal is to let everyone know the ‘what, where and how’ the ceremony will run and will ensure that everyone knows what is expected of them on the day. A rehearsal should be arranged a week or two before the actual date and if the ceremony is outside, ideally at the same time of day that the ceremony will be held. This will ensure we know where we will be standing without having a glaring sun in our faces or too many shadows.

It's a good idea to invite all of the ceremony participants, including any younger members of the party and parents, if they are playing a role in the ceremony. If it can’t be organised at the venue, we can arrange another location.

Q5. How long does a civil marriage ceremony usually take?

A very simple ceremony with no readings or rituals can be as short as 10 minutes. However, most ceremonies usually take approximately 20 to 30 minutes, including the signing of documents.
